I was considering buying a new bike and a friend suggested I purchase a WSD. I knew Trek's were great bikes so I started looking at the Shift & Verve bikes. It took about a year (procrastinator) but I decided on the Shift.---Why did I wait so long, that's right ....procrastinating. ---Anyway, I love, love, love my bike! It's such a joy to ride, I ride almost daily, not only for the health benefits but the sheer fun of it! I selected Shift over the Verve because of the wider wheels which I find provide a little more stability on gravel trails. This has to be one of the best purchases that I've made in a long time. If you're contemplating a purchase I highly recommend the Shift 2! Enjoy the ride!!
the front fork could use braze-ons for a Tubus rack

Great for casual city riding, trails or long distance. Shock absorber on fork and seat handle bumps well. 21 speed shifter is smooth and easy to operate. The LBS was very professional and friendly. Installed water bottle, LED lights, pouch bag, lock bracket and odometer. Even installed a high-tech bike rack for car travel. Highly recommend!

I am 67 and pretty well out of shape. Bought this bike from our local bike shop after much consideration. I intend using the bike on a daily basis and slowly building up my stamina so's I can pedal down to our local village which is an approximate 12 km. trip.
All this in preparation for a cross-country trip on my 70th birthday! Wishful thinking perhaps?
Anyways, I love the way this bike handles and the gears are a cinch to use. Also, feel much more secure at faster speeds with the wider set of wheels, very responsive brakes and easy handling. A pleasure to ride.

I am 63 years old, retired, and out of shape. I loved to bike as a youngster. I have occasionally biked as an adult. I needed to start taking care of myself. I have no excuse for not doing so but myself. I looked into exercise machinery, but decided it was not for me. I have had them before and they became coat racks. I like to be outdoors. I started looking at purchasing a bike. I purchased the Trek Shift 2 after researching various bikes on the Internet. Yes, I could have bought a cheaper bike at the big box stores, but there is no comparison. The technology in bicycles today have long surpassed the days of my youth. It is mind boggling the choices you have. I am so happy that I took the time to stop by the local bike shop and get there advice. There expertise is invaluable. Good bikes are not cheap, but "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR."
