ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL BIKE! Shopping Experience 5 star!

Pros:
Durable, Handles Well, Great Components, Attractive Design, Lightweight, Comfortable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Errands, Recreation, Commuting
I wanted to get back into cycling, but knew from experience that all general merchandise bikes are too big for me, and so I wanted to get one that was properly sized for me. At 5'2" tall, and slacks inseam of 27 inches, and with old knees, and general lack of conditioning, I wanted a bike that would be comfortable, and could work with my deficiencies. THIS ONE IS WONDERFUL!! Flat foot technology somehow makes peddling uphill not difficult!! I had not ridden a bike for seven years! I took this one home, and immediately went on a 5 mile spin. No pain, anywhere! Seat comfortable, sitting upright was great to strengthen my core, and the right sized equipment made me confident and feel safe and in control. Recommend the shopping experience at Bike World in San Antonio. Emillio was a wonderful sales assistant, as we put together the bike and accessories! Bike is light (35 pounds or so). My much taller daughter and her husband, also took a spin and found the bike to be fast, light, and fun to ride. Great bike - Highly recommend!!

I love my purple Electra Townie!

Pros:
Attractive Design, Comfortable, Handles Well
Cons:
Best Uses:
Trails, Commuting
I wanted to get back into riding. I had a mountain bike that was about 20 years old from when my kids were little and tried riding it and my hands and arms hurt for days. I did a lot of research and decided to take a look at cruiser-style bikes, but didn't want a single speed bike. I decided on the Electra Townie 7d, took a quick test ride around the store's parking lot, and bought it in the beautiful Violet (actually a deep purple) color. That day my husband and I took a 15 mile ride on the North Branch Trail and I loved the bike more with each passing mile. It is super comfortable with a cushy seat. Being able to sit upright and not have to have my weight forward on the handlebars made all the difference. And I love the flat foot technology where I don't have to get off the seat when I stop. My husband even took a short ride on it when we finished and couldn't believe how much more comfortable it was over his mountain bike. He is now thinking of getting one too. I love it and can't wait to buy some fun accessories for it! I would highly recommend it. The Village CycleSport is a wonderful place for all your biking needs and I would highly recommend them too.

I got this bike for myself, but shared it with my mom to see if she could use it. At 56 with bad knees she loves her new bike. The flat foot design makes her feel safe and in control.

So comfortable

Pros:
Durable, Handles Well, Lightweight, Comfortable, Attractive Design
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting
It meets all my needs and it looks cute too! However, I am not crazy about the crank forward design for two reasons: first, I cannot stand up to pedal uphill and second, in order for my knees to not hurt I had to raise the seat to a point where the "flat foot technology" is canceled. This is why I gave 4 stars and not 5. Otherwise, this is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. The longest non-stop trip I made on it was 25 miles: no pain whatsoever! Great, fun bike!

I love this bike and I received fantastic customer service. I am thouroughly satisfied with my shopping experience and my bike itself. I live on the 2nd floor and the aluminum frame is plenty light enough for me to get it upstairs by myself. This bike is 20 times more awesome than the Schwinn I had.

This bike is incredibly comfortable and fun to ride! I use it to pull my daughter in a trailer to go to the park or a leisure ride. It is well built and very attractive. I know I will be riding it for years to come, it is a great investment. The staff was also incredibly helpful and friendly, it was well worth it to go into the store.

Great all around bike!

Pros:
Great Components, Handles Well, Durable, Comfortable, Attractive Design, Lightweight
Cons:
Best Uses:
Fitness, Just Plain Fun, Touring, Commuting
I am very impressed with this bike. I'm new to serious bikes and think I made the right decision with this one. It is very comfortable and easy to handle. I ride mostly for fitness now but I am wanting to take the bike farther and farther. It works really well on the pavement and doe's really well off the paved surfaces. I've owned it for a month now and would gladly purchase it again.

Love this bike

Pros:
Comfortable, Durable, Handles Well, Attractive Design
Cons:
Best Uses:

I am sorry for the people that don't like the shifting. My husband adjusted mine and it shifts great. You might need to take it to the dealer and have it tuned a little bit. The seat kind of hurts, but I just have to get used to it. I am really enjoying it. I love the happy orange color.

Not for me

Pros:
Attractive Design
Cons:
Poor Customer Service, Uncomfortable, Rough Shifting
Best Uses:
Short Distances
If you are just going to tool around town for 10 or 15 minutes this bike is okay. But I think it is way over priced for how rough the gears shift and how easy the chain comes off

Everything that I expected

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I bought the Townie for myself to celebrate a significant birthday. I have been very happy with this bike. I ride it every evening and the 7 speed is perfect for the Midwest suburban streets. It shifts easily. The wide seat is comfy and looks good in hot pink. Wide tires are sturdy and give me a lot of confidence. I like the fact that this is a one-size-fits-all bike and is easy to dismount and stop abruptly, if necessary.

Great bike - I am riding again!

Pros:
Comfortable, Fun, Confidence, EASY
Cons:
Best Uses:
My salesperson really listened to my needs to identify what I would like. My family and I were on Mackinac Island in Michigan and rode rental bikes two days straight. I never felt and comfortable and confident and it was because of the bike! The rental was a different brand but after describing the experience to my salesperson, he took me over to the array of Electras with flat foot technology. I am on my bike all the time now and loving it! I only wish they would make a ladies bike in black or steel grey since that's more my color style. I got the green which is very cool. The styling and accessories are fun too as well as the Electra Facebook page etc which makes you part of the Electra community.

Sweet

Pros:
Durable, Versatile, Lightweight
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting/City, Leisure Riding
After having some difficulty adjusting to a "teetering" urban-style bike, [...] store manager suggested I test ride a Townie ...voila! LOVE it! This bike is so comfortable to ride. Its Flat Foot Technology allows the rider to feel stable and confident. This positioning, plus comfortable seat and wider tires easily make this the best bike I've ever ridden. The 7 Speed gear option is perfect for our flat terrain and additional features like handbrakes and optional fenders make Townie a solid ride you'll enjoy for years!Kudos to [...] excellent staff too who really cared about my satisfaction.

Comfortable, Safe and Fun

Pros:
Fun, Stylish, Durable, Comfortable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Street Riding, Leisurely Rides
I love this bike! It's a very comfortable ride. Your feet can touch the ground easily and the design of the bike makes it easy on knees. I wanted a bike to ride around the neighborhod with my kids, but once I started riding, I realized it was a great way to exercise. I started with a department store bike but it didn't hold up to daily riding. The Townie is a million times better, I wish I had bought it a year ago. I rode to school with my kids this morning and they kept having to yell, "Mom, wait up!" instead of the other way around. This bike makes riding feel fun and effortless. It feels very safe being able to put my feet down on the ground when I stop, which is really important when you're riding with little kids who sometimes make unexpected, sudden stops.

Ride and you will buy

Pros:
Durable, Lightweight, Versatile, Comfortable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Street Riding, Light Trails, Leisurely Rides, Commuting
I purchased this gem after riding every cruiser type bike in Sacramento. For me, the truth is in how a bike feels. The Townie 7D is a plush easy ride, yet easily covers ground for me to commute, ride to the grocery store, or just toodle around town and the American River bike trail. I added fenders, a rack, and a front basket. I could ride this bike all day, and often refrain from driving my car all weekend!

Great All-around Town Bike

Pros:
Comfortable, Versatile, Stylish
Cons:
Best Uses:
Street Riding, Light Trails, Leisurely Rides, Commuting
Have had the Electra Townie 7D for almost a month and have ridden it more than I had for the last three years combined! Commuting to work, cruising the bike baths, or riding to town to find ice scream, this bike handles it all with grace and style. It's so comfortable, it can take bumps along the way, and I can sit up without having to crouch over the handle bars. Having the pedals slightly forward helps. Having the gears is a must where I live, and it makes this bike a true "all-around town" bike.
