Love my bike

Pros:
Durable, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Biking, Commuting/City
I've been riding my Townie for 3 years now. The various add-ons made for the bike make it great for city use. I ride it for exercise or to hit the store, farmers market, library, etc. With the sturdy back rack and a good pannier or basket, I don't need to use gas to pick up a day or two's groceries (barring cartons of soft drinks). While I've gotten disdainful comments from serious road/mountain bikers, EVERYONE else has given me compliments on the townie. The only bad thing I have to say is that the wheels are a bit puncture prone. The tread is still good, but I end up changing the tube 2-4 times a riding season. Puncture proof tubes might help. Unless you're worried about your macho buds making fun of you for not getting a "serious" bike, get one. After mile 8 of a casual ride, your butt will be fine while theirs will be chafing.

Great for Commuting

Pros:
Durable, Versatile, Seating Position, Adaptability
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting/City
I had to add extra carrying devices to my bike. Riding to work at 4AM and then home at 6PM means I must take extra clothes for very different temps. Also I have to have a Hard Hat, boots and long pants to enter my work location, all this and my "Jethro Bodine" lunch box means I have cargo carriers both front and rear on the bike. For 2 years it has performed GREAT. My ride is about 12 miles RT. I only do it weather permitting, I'm not a fanatic just a 64 year old guy riding to work when I can. I will admit my butt is a little sore after 6 miles but it could be my 250 pounds pressing down on it that might have something to do with it.

Awesome Set of Wheels

Pros:
Durable, Lightweight, Color, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Biking, Commuting/City
I really enjoy my new bike! Just recently became interested in riding again due to being retired military and because of health issues. The Electra Townie is a well built bicycle that is comfortable and easy to ride. My wife calls me old school, in which I totally agree with. My sales rep. at Athens Bike Shop went to their basement and brought up a metallic moss Townie and I simply had to have it because the color reminds me of a vintage GTO. My total experience with this bike and Athens Bike Shop in general is outstanding and well worth the drive.

best bike for me

Pros:
Comfortable Riding Positi, EASY TO RIDE, Lightweight
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Commuting/City
I ride my Townie everyday all around town. It is a comfortable bike to go to the gym, the store, the library of ride to dinner. I needed a bike that would allow my feet to touch the ground, a bike that was easy to operate, a bike that put my weight on the seat and NOT on my wrists/handlebar. The Townie met my needs perfectly.

"Fun ride!"

Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Pleasure Riding
Got back into riding after about 50 year lay off and this 69 year old is thrilled. I have been riding the Trinity Trail which is a Fort Worth Tx City bike walk and run paved trail. After only a month, I am doing a 25 mile turn around and it has been a blast, except on the return when the wind is above 15mph! It rides smooth, gears work great and best of all Bicycles Inc, will adjust my bike 4 times a year for free. I would say unless you want to go real fast this is the bike for you. Seven speeds are plenty!

Electra Townie 7D

Pros:
Comfortable, Lightweight, Durable, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Exercise
I am in my 60s, and have arthritis and bad knees. My doctor recommended cycling and swimming to control the arthritis and to put off knee replacement surgery. I have not been a consistent bike rider since my bike was stolen when I was 13 years old. So far I am easing into biking by riding around the cul de sac 15 times at least once per day. I hope to start riding on bike paths. The Townie is very comfortable for a tall man, and very light and easy to control. Thanks to Bike Doctor of Annapolis for setting it right the first time.

Wow! Killer Bike

Pros:
Versatile, Durable, Comfortable, Good looking
Cons:
Best Uses:
Boardwalk, Commuting/City, Cruising
I use my Townie 7D for light commuting and family riding. We live in a semi-hilly area, so gears are good. Bike is extremely comfortable! Probably the most comfortable bike I've ever used. Had my heart set on a cruiser, but once I test drove this in the Jax Murr parking lot, I was hooked. Wife bought it for my early b-day present. You sit upright, which is comfortable. Electra's Flat Foot technology helps with waiting at signals. Gears shift flawlessly. Brakes stop bike effortlessly. Easy to steer and maneuver. Smooth ride. I added the plastic fenders and 8-ball bell & valve caps. Pretty nice looking set up.

Great Bike!

Pros:
Versatile, Lightweight, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Biking, Commuting/City, Mountain Biking
Noel at Mr B's knows bikes and is very customer service oriented. He asked me about my intended use of the bike and he recommended the Townie 7D and after three weeks of daily use, he was right on! This is a great hybrid bike. I use it for commuting 20 miles a day and the 7th gear is good at about 15mph. On weekends I like to drive on desert roads and when the bike performs well in light to medium sand. First gear will get you through most sand while 7th is great for commuting on residential and county roads. I'm 62 and this bike is getting me back in shape without a lot of effort.

"This bike is light, cool and FUN"

Pros:
Lightweight, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting/City
I have a full-suspension, lightweight beast for a mountain bike. And I have a carbon fiber road bike. I love each of them. But I'd forgotten that riding a bike can be fun, low pressure and relaxed. The Townie is a great bike, whether it's your only ride, or the third. The wheels are decent quality, 7 gears does well for city trips, and the long wheelbase makes for a smooth ride.I've taken mine out wearing flip-flops, a ball cap and cargo shorts. I hadn't done that in at least 10 years! These can be customized w fenders, groovy headlamps, a keg cup holder (and baskets for the handlebars if that's what you wanna do).Take it on your next bar crawl, or to your evening softball game, a festival, whatevs.

This is a great bike. Especially for fun

Pros:
Versatile, Lightweight, Great balance, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Beach, Commuting/City, Road Biking
This is so easy to ride I hardly work up a sweat. I was comparing it to a Trek Navigator 2.0 and it just seemed to be the right fit for me! You actually stand flat footed while seated and it is very easy to control. I am 63 going on 18 when I am on this bike!

Comfortable ride...well worth the money

Pros:
Motivates you to ride, Durable, Versatile, Pleasant enjoyable ride, Stylish, Lost 75 lbs, Lightweight, Comfortable
Cons:
NONE
Best Uses:
Light Trails, Leisurely Rides
When I bought my Townie, I was looking for a bike to motivate me to ride again. Since buying my Townie, I have enjoyed cycling so much that I now ride several times a week and go about 8-12 miles each ride. I have lost 75 lbs. and LOVE my bike. I am constantly getting compliments about how "sharp" it looks. I really don't care about the looks so much; I'm more impressed by how comfortable the ride is. I tell all my friends about "flatfoot technology" and have converted several friends to this style of bike. Thank you.

Lets you ride like a kid again.

Pros:
Durable, Fun, Lightweight, Stylish, Versatile, Comfortable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting, Street Riding, Shopping, Leisurely Rides, Light Trails
This is now the bike I use for all trips 10 miles and under. Just put on my helmet and I am off to visit neighbors, go to the gym, go shopping, or watch the sunset. I still ride my road bike, but the Townie is fun and practical to slow down and enjoy the view and stop and talk to neighbors. Flat foot technology is great for visiting and chatting with others. Puts a smile on my face every time I ride. People ask where they can buy one. Palm Springs and Palm Desert Cyclery get all my business.

I love my townie!

Pros:
Stylish, Lightweight, Comfortable, Versatile, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Leisurely Rides, Light Trails, Street Riding
I love my townie! I bought it two years ago, but this is first year I have been riding very regularly. It's comfortable and easy to ride and I always get compliments on it. Mine is creamsicle orange and is so dreamy! My husband says I look like a little girl again when I ride because I am having so much fun! I plan to ride many many more miles on this terrific bike. Thanks!

Wife loves me for buying this bike.

Pros:
Stylish, Durable, Fun Colors, Lightweight, Versatile, Comfortable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting, Leisurely Rides, Street Riding
My wife said she would get mad if I bought her a new bike for Christmas; she said her 30 year old road bike was just fine. When it was added to the presents under the tree, she exclaimed how cute it was. She now rides it more than her old road bike. Two neighbors are now planning to purchase one for their wife's birthdays. The staff at both the Palm Springs and Palm Desert stores are very helpful. This bike put a big smile on my face when I test rode it in the parking lot.
