Behind The Scenes - Making Trek Project One Bikes!

Vince's Daily Cycling Tip

Don't Tip The Seat Too Much - While it may seem logical to tip your seat's nose down, it's usually not a good idea. It's best to keep the seat's top level with the ground or minutely tipped up or down no more than three degrees (to your preference) where the seat can properly support your weight. Consider that a seat is designed to offer optimum comfort in its level position. To gauge whether or not the seat is level, rest a long level (make sure the bike is level before measuring) on top. Don't have a level? Put the bike on a surface you know is level and rest a yardstick on top of the seat. Then eyeball the yardstick's edge against a distant building or some other level line on the horizon to gauge seat angle.

A Preview Of Specialized 2014

The iconic Specialized 'S' greeted us at the Specialized Dealer Event in Copper Mountain Resort. Exciting new bikes, accessories, and clothing were on display and ready to ride all week long. Are you ready to sneak a peek at 2014?
A walk through the expo is a feast for the eyes. S-Works road and tri offerings line the walls while photos to the left tell the story of the many top-flight athletes who have taken S-Works products to victory.
Wise instructions grace the wall at an educational area within the expo. Attention to fit and comfort was apparent in every category of product, from bikes down to accessories and clothing.
A rustic setting seems perfect for displaying the Specialized Rumor, since this rig is built for trail-riding ladies. Announced like this, this female-friendly bike is more than just a Rumor!
It was hard not to be impressed by the wide boulevards of bikes. We could see, touch and enjoy every innovation and offering in the Specialized 2014 line.
The aptly named Specialized Crave is new for 2014, and riders looking for a race-worthy rig will surely pine for this 29er.
Certain areas of the expo seem to welcome you to the future. A simple presentation packed a punch for those interested in a close-up look at cutting-edge aero technology. Aero is faster!
Shoes, saddles, clothing, and much more lined the walls so we could pick out the best for you.
This handy set-up invites us in with a friendly wave. The line of Specialized gloves included comfortable Body Geometry favorites as well as new offerings for every type of rider.
A healthy stable of Specialized Venge road bikes greeted us in the center of the expo. We got the opportunity to test ride these slick steeds at the outdoor demo.
Eye-catching doesn't begin to describe the paint schemes available on the new Venge road bikes. This bright blue and green S-Works was displayed front and center to show off its plumage.
The complete build of the S-Works Venge takes its place as a worthy centerpiece within the expo hall.
The new Turbo commuter bike offers something entirely new to the North American market. The electric-assist bike is battery-operated, can assist your pedaling to 28mph, and has the classic looks of an attractive commuter.
To see the Fatboy roll by is to see a rider with a smile on his face. Fun, fast, and sure to spark conversations in passing, this new fat bike features a tapered head tube and carbon fork for stellar handling on the trails.
Fixed and frisky, the Specialized Langster line includes models made for the city commuter and velodrome racers. With several colors and build kits available, the Langster is a versatile track offering for racers and enthusiasts alike.
A Specialized Crux frame shows off an attention-grabbing paint job. Built with cross season in mind, the Crux features an oversize bottom bracket shell and race-ready geometry.
Even more stellar paint jobs grace the halls of the expo. This Crux combines a unique color scheme along with the same technology that makes Specialized bikes reliable and renowned.
Helmet options for female riders are plenty and exciting. The Prevail features a comfortable adjustable harness, a pony tail opening, and even a custom color scheme courtesy of Lululemon.
Roval wheels are showcased in the center of the Expo area, and for good reason. These tough and light hoops are race-worthy and ready for everyday riding, too.
Tried and true models mix in with new offerings in the Specialized wheel line-up. From deep-dish road to downhill (see previous image), Roval wheels offer something for every rider.
Every year, Specialized's new model year launch is one of the highlights of the season. We thought we'd share the excitement with you. While some of the bicycles shown here aren't immediately available, we're happy to pre-order anything you like. Let us know which Specialized 2014 items catch your fancy.
